Window Screen Cleaning and Track Cleaning, Explained
Every Rise and Shine window cleaning service includes a complimentary wipe-down of your screens and window tracks.
For a deeper clean of screens and tracks, we offer a screen cleaning service and a track cleaning service.
Here's what each one includes and how to tell whether the deeper clean is right for you.
What the standard screen and track wipe-down covers
During a regular window cleaning, the crew wipes off your screens and tracks with a cloth. If the screens or tracks themselves are what you'd like cleaned, screen cleaning and track cleaning give them the deeper clean they need.
What screen cleaning includes
With screen cleaning, the crew takes your screens out and runs each one through a soft-bristle screen cleaner. The bristles reach into the mesh and pull out the dirt, pollen and cottonwood fluff that a cloth leaves behind.
Clean screens let more light through the window, and they cut down on the dirty drips that run onto the glass when it rains.
What track cleaning includes
Window tracks collect dead bugs, sand, leaves and the dust that blows in all summer. With track cleaning, the crew vacuums each track with a shop vac to pull out that buildup, then wipes it down. Clean tracks also help your windows slide open and closed more easily.
Signs your screens and tracks need more than a wipe-down
The screens look gray or hazy from inside. Packed mesh blocks light, and you notice it most on sunny mornings.
Cottonwood fluff is stuck in the mesh. The white fluff from cottonwood season works its way into the screen, and a cloth won't pull it out.
Dead bugs and sand sit in the corners of the tracks. A wipe moves them around, and a vacuum gets them out.
Your windows stick when you slide them. Buildup in the track is a common cause.
How to add screen cleaning or track cleaning to your visit
Screen cleaning and track cleaning are set in your quote, so mention them when you request one. Each one shows up as its own line, and you can choose one, both or neither. Some customers add one or both to every visit, some add them once a year, and others are happy with the wipe-down.
We offer both with every window cleaning across Northern Colorado, including window cleaning in Fort Collins, Windsor, Loveland and Greeley.
Screen cleaning and track cleaning questions
Do I need to be home for screen or track cleaning?
Yes. Some screens latch from the inside, so the crew may need to get into the house to take them out.
Likewise, we will need to slide or crank your windows open to clean your window tracks. If you'll be away, let us know when you book or check out our guide on how to get ready for your window cleaning appointment.
Can you repair torn or broken screens?
If your screens have tears, loose mesh or dented frames, the crew will let you know and we can suggest a local company for the repair.
Older screens can be brittle and hard to get in and out of the window, so our crews handle them carefully. If one of our crew members damages a screen, we repair it at no cost to you.
Can I add screen cleaning or track cleaning on the day of my visit?
We want to make sure we show up prepared. Please let us know ahead of time if you’d like to opt for a screen cleaning or track cleaning service. This way, we can budget enough time to get the job done.
